Long Term Care Administrators are in a unique position to identify when a resident develops a need for a guardian. This course provides a historical overview and basic foundation of guardianship, a discussion of alternatives to guardianship, the legal mechanics of establishing, modifying and terminating a guardianship, the duties of a Guardian of the Person and Guardian of the Estate, decision-making strategies used by a guardian to ensure the best quality of life for the person with a guardian and a summary of best practices in guardianship. After completing this course, you will know how to better identify the need for guardianship, how the process works, and, if a guardian is appointed, the duties of the guardian. You will also be better equipped to work with guardians of the residents in your facility. (7 courses are included)
