Astronomy for Beginners: Observing the Night Sky

CourseGraphic This course is the perfect introduction to amateur astronomy for all who find themselves drawn to gaze at the starry sky. Larry Smith, former National Park astronomy ranger, will teach you about stellar and celestial objects and their motion and introduce you to using binoculars and telescopes. Through outdoor night-sky observation using a variety of observational tools, you will learn to identify constellations and other celestial objects with a planisphere and digital programs. Each student will receive a planisphere to take home.
