« back to classes page
CourseGraphic Are there particular topics that you “can’t talk about” even with friends and loved ones? Accurate empathy is a learnable skill that focuses on understanding rather than winning and losing and can be a first step toward meaningful dialogue and collaboration. During this day long-workshop, Dr. Bill Miller will lead you though a sequence of practical steps and experiential exercises so you feel confident employing accurate empathy in a variety of settings. Dr. William R. Miller is Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico. He is the original developer of the Motivational Interviewing, for which accurate empathy is a foundational skill. Lunch and a copy of Listening Well: The Art of Empathic Understanding is included, and LPC and LMSW CEUs are available. Register by Oct 19.
