Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that helps guide individuals from ambivalence towards decision and active change through collaborative conversations. This advanced course is designed for students who already have a basic knowledge of Motivational Interview or have previously taken an introductory class, since it focuses on advanced skills in the MI planning stage such as change talk. You will have the opportunity to discuss challenges specific to your work and are encouraged to bring transcripts or a recording that demonstrates your use of MI skills to class for discussion and feedback. Instructor W. C. “Dub” Wright is a member of the Motivational Interviewers International Network of Trainers. LPC and social work CEUs are available, including one ethics credit.
