Minimum Standards for Certified Guardians Part 1

The Judicial Branch Certification Commission developed professional standards for all certified Guardians. There are twenty-two standards that address all aspects of providing guardianship services. These standards are discussed in detail in this course, part 1, and the next course, part 2. All certified Guardians should know and understand these standards thoroughly.

This is a self-paced online course.

Author: Leah Cohen, LCSW, ACSW, CCM, CNG, TXCG. Ms. Cohen is a care manager at arrangeCARE PC, a private Austin care management practice that guides older adults and clients with special needs through the maze of services available, maximizing their benefits before using their private resources. She helps them make thoughtful decisions and find creative solutions. Leah earned both her BS in psychology and her MSW from the University of Illinois. She also holds a Master of Industrial Relations from Loyola University in Chicago. She had an Administration on Aging Fellowship. Leah was named 2016 Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers Texas Chapter Austin Branch. She was a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in 2005. She has been a social worker/care manager for over 30 years. Leah is a Certified Case Manager and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Leah is a co-founder of Guide Change, a platform that empowers families with aging family members to improve financial care and mitigate risk.
