Preparing Educators with Autism Knowledge and Skills (PEAKS)

Preparing Educators with Autism Knowledge and Skills (PEAKS) is a three-phase professional development series for educators and related service providers who work with students with autism. PEAKS, Phase 1 will introduce evidence-based educational practices to improve academic, social, and other adaptive skills as well as reduce challenging behavior among students with autism in the classroom. The remaining optional phases will bolster the foundational knowledge developed in this series and provide consultation to overcome implementation barriers.

To participate in the PEAKS series, individuals must:

  • Work in a school setting in Texas
  • Work directly with students with autism.

This training program is based on the RBT Task List (2nd ed.) and is designed to meet the

40-hour training requirement for RBT certification. The program is offered independent of the BACB.
