In an increasingly global society, Mandarin Chinese is an ever more important language. Join Qingqing Chen to learn spoken Mandarin phrases and vocabulary for everyday life and gain deeper insight into Chinese culture and its influence on international and local pop culture. You will practice pronunciation and tones, writing Chinese characters, and basic grammar, with a focus on Chinese speaking and listening skills. After you have begun to study Spanish, it often becomes clear that understanding and being understood by native speakers is a challenge. Baylor faculty member Krista Eades will help you polish your pronunciation by understanding the way the mouth works with language and improving your pronunciation of key sounds. You will also learn to listen to different varieties of Spanish and get comfortable with how to use proper greetings to give the right impression in the right context.
