  Starting with the basics, instructor Alisa Dabney will guide you to explore simple techniques that will wow your family and guests. The class will cover buttercream icing, character cakes, borders, decorations, writing and lettering, assembling a tiered cake, and baking tips. You will become comfortable manufacturing frosting, using piping bags and tips, and making and applying simple fondant decorations. You need to bring household and decorating supplies to each class and a baked cake to decorate to the last class, including baking and frosting supplies; decorating tips: 1, 3, 12, 16, 18, 21, 1M, 104, 351, 2D, 233 and 47; piping bags, spatula, baking pans.   Tentative Course Outline:  A tentative course calendar is provided below.    Topics  Introduction, the essentials of baking and frosting   Stars for character cakes, printing and writing, and borders   Borders and drop flowers  Roses and final cake
