Retired Baylor Religion professor Dr. Bill Pitts will examine the historical context for the writing of the Bible. You will explore major forms of literature and their themes in the biblical story, the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament), the Apocrypha and the New Testament, focusing on the chronology and geography of the Bible’s history. Dr. Pitts will also discuss how these biblical elements were written, transmitted, translated, and included in the canon. Join this course for a long view of the Bible as a whole.
